NTI coordinates project-based sourcing of machine tools and supporting equipment against the part, material, process, accuracy, capacity, automation, and acceptance requirements.
The machine-tool requirement should be based on the workpiece, material, dimensions, tolerances, surface requirements, production basis, process plan, utilities, controls, site constraints, documentation, destination, and the buyer's acceptance method.
Potential requirements may involve vertical or horizontal machining centers, turning centers, or related production equipment. Machine configuration, travels, spindle, tooling interface, workholding, controls, capacity basis, tests, and support must be confirmed from manufacturer documents for the project.
These machines should be evaluated against the actual part family, operations, access, workholding, control strategy, accuracy and test method, automation interface, operator requirements, and service responsibilities. A category label alone does not establish simultaneous capability, accuracy, or suitability.
Define the workpiece, material, stock condition, geometry, tolerance, surface requirement, abrasive or finishing process, dressing, coolant, filtration, measurement, environment, and acceptance method. Performance statements require supplier data and agreed test conditions.
Tooling, fixtures, workholding, probing, measurement, loading and unloading, guarding, chip handling, coolant, and other auxiliary items may be included when connected to the defined machine project. They are supporting requirements, not separate top-level product divisions.
Compare the manufacturer and seller roles, configuration, drawings, controls, standards, tests, documents, inspection or acceptance plan, packing, installation, commissioning, training, spare parts, warranty, service location, exclusions, and export or import constraints.
